It is the so-called World of Warcraft API functions. You can acess them with LUA addons and FrameXML, I guess. Protected functions can be accessed with some hack as far as I remember.

As far as I know it is possible to get player's lookat, so you need to set your camera yaw and pitch to this value with some memory editing or better a .dll inject. You can find the information about WoW memory offsets on Ownedcore I think.

There is a plugin for Blender that allows you to import/export WMOs directly from the tool.

yes but understanding casc system and a way to use it for creating custom patch seems really difficult.
As far as I was told, CASC archives can be created but there is a unique key for every WoW build that allows you to do it. We do not know the algorythm Blizzard uses to generate those keys if there is even any. So, guys who develop CASC software do not want to add support for creating new archives because it feels hacky for them too to make them version dependent.

That still feels hacky. Unless we manage to pack files into something like an acrhive that feels hacky.

That is right but the entry point of making modding tools for any game is checking if it can be modded at all. WoD can be modded. Then comes a question how we can load the files. Through a hacky folder reading with naked files when a user can just accidentally or not accidentally delete something and it will be your pain in the ass to solve it. A user can just erase folder with m2 models for example. The client will handle that just fine but the player would be able to pass to the places he is not supposed to. That is just an example.

There is no CASC creator tool. You have to use hacky folder reading. Unless there is something to properly patch the client, it is useless for me. Someone could actually add support for MPQs back to it through things similar to TOM_RUS' WoWAddin.dll. I do not know how hard it is but I think you need to hook client's file loading functions and load MPQs with stormlib after CASC. I don't know if these functions are reversed or if it is possible at all but this would be nice.
If there is nothing to patch the client, there is no point to mod it. You can't ship loads of files to the end user right to the folder. Well, you can and pretty easily but it does not feel right.

How can we start working on WoD when there are no tools? I'd gladly jump in after my current project but I do not even see the possibility to make proper patches for WoD so far.

Exildor asked me to let you guys know (as he is not so good at English) that he is unable to continue this work for now as his harddrive has crashed, so all the current work is lost. He might continue later but now he is demotivated about that.

Gamh can be found on Modcraft IRC channel on Quakenet. Though, I have a question... why do you need to use outdated software which does not support half of the features modern software does? Blender or 3DS max plugin support almost all features supported by WMO format. At least Blender one does for sure.

They simply do not exist. WoW modding has seriously became a thing only in times of TBC. And even for TBC there are not enough tools. The majority of working stuff is done for 3.3.5a. The knowledge you can get with 3.3.5a can also get you to modding of future post-cata expansions.
